Deal the Layout

Klondike's layout has 7 columns and 4 foundations. It is played with a single deck, and 28 of the 52 cards are dealt into the initial layout. The remainder of the cards are left in a Stock Pile that can be dealt 3 at a time into a Waste Pile as needed.

The column on the far left has a single face up card. As you build the columns to the right, place one additional card in each column as you go with only the top card face up. So the second column would have 2 cards, the third column 3, etc.

Moving Cards

In Klondike Solitaire you can only move cards between the columns that are face up. You can grab any number of cards in a series that are face up, and move them to another column, if the cards you are moving can be used to Build Down the destination column by Alternating Colors. You can move cards to the Foundations if the card you are using can build up the foundation By Suit. If a column is empty, you may place a King in the empty space to start a new column. If a foundation is empty, you may place an Ace in the space to start a new foundation pile.

The Stock Pile

If you become Blocked you can deal 3 cards from the Stock Pile into the Waste Pile. You may deal the cards in such a way as to make the top 3 cards in the waste pile visible, but you may only move the current top card in the waste pile. You may move the top card in the waste pile into a foundation, or into one of the columns, as long as you are building up the foundation by suit, or building down the column alternating colors.

Win Condition

You win Klondike Solitaire when you have moved all 52 cards into the foundations.
