Golf Solitaire

Golf is a solitaire game played with a Stock Pile, a Waste Pile and 7 columns of 5 cards. Your goal is to remove all the cards from the columns placing them into the waste pile.

The waste pile in this game is a little unusual in that in some ways it acts as a Foundation. When the waste pile is empty, you can move a card from the columns into it. Once the waste pile has a card in it, you can move cards from the columns, if the top card in the waste pile has a value one greater than or one less than the value of the card on the top of the waste pile. Your goal is to move all of the cards from the columns into the waste pile.

Deal the Layout

Deal 35 cards face up into 7 columns of 5 cards each. The remaining 17 cards are placed in a Stock Pile.

Moving Cards

At the beginning of the game, the Waste Pile is empty. You may move any card that is the bottom card in a column into the waste pile. At this point you may only move a card into the waste pile if it has a Rank one greater than or one less than the card on the top of the waste pile.

Optional Rule - Some versions of Golf allow you to "wrap" rank. If the card on the top of the waste pile is a King, you may place an Ace on top of the waste pile. If the card on top of the waste pile is an Ace, you may place a King on top.

If you become Blocked, you may choose to deal a card from the Stock Pile into the waste pile. The game ends if there are no cards left in the stock pile and you become blocked.

How to Win

To win Golf, you must move all the cards from the columns into the waste pile.
